The save feature is for saving correct answers in quizzes with multiple attempts. Say you have more attempts to a quiz/test, using the CanvasHack you are able to save all of your correct answers from a previous attempt and all you have to do is reselect them!

The 'Kiosk Mode' is just an addon that some students need and is not needed at all for the hack to work. They need it when their teacher asks them to log out and sign into the canvas kiosk app, instead of logging out and not being able to cheat they instead, with this extension, they can mimic the canvas kiosk app but inside the browser 👍
